Alabama could have a third consecutive senior handling kicks later this year.
Austin Jones, a graduate transfer from Temple University, announced Monday afternoon via Instagram that he would be playing his final season with the Crimson Tide. The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder from Orlando was pictured in the Instagram post with Alabama coach Nick Saban.
Jones made 102 of 104 extra-point attempts during his career with the Owls and 50 of 67 field-goal tries. He made 19 field-goal attempts in a row as a junior in 2016 but suffered a torn ACL on a kickoff return against Memphis.
Alabama played this past season with Andy Pappanastos, a graduate transfer from Ole Miss, as its kicker. Pappanastos replaced former Calhoun (Ga.) High School standout Adam Griffith, whose three-year run as the starter ended his senior season in 2016.
The Crimson Tide also have Joseph Bulovas, a 6-foot, 212-pounder from Mandeville, La., who redshirted as a freshman this past season.
