Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said investigators found the car used in Tuesday’s fatal hit-and-run. The suspect remains at large.

After posts online and news stories about the crime Tuesday, Wilson said the sheriff’s office received a call this morning, telling them a woman on Kristen Drive in Chickamauga found the car in question: a dark blue, 2006 Hyundai Sonata with a damaged front bumper, grill, headlights and left rear taillight.

The woman told officer she had seen reports online about the hit-and-run that killed a man Tuesday. And at her house, covered with tarps and blankets, she found the vehicle police were looking for. Wilson said the woman knows the owner of the car.

“Hopefully by mid-afternoon we’ll be able to make an arrest,” Wilson said.

On Tuesday morning, the driver of the Hyundai Sonata hit a man on Marbletop Road, killing him. The car was traveling south, toward Garretts Chapel Road.
