The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is now hiring school resource officers to work in public schools throughout the county to ensure the safety of local students.

The job opportunity is part of Sheriff Hammond's push to put a school resource officer in every Hamilton County School. The Hamilton County Board of Education supported that push earlier this year by allocating an additional $500,000 to pay for them.

"The HCSO School Resource Officer Division is looking for a few good men and women to help make our schools safe and serve as mentors to our students," stated a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office. "If you are a certified law enforcement officer with two or more years of experience and interested, please visit our website at www.hcsheriff.gov for more details."

Another post states the job is part-time and pays $11.63 an hour. Anyone interested in the opportunity is encouraged to apply online through the agency's website.
