Keep dangerous ingredients out
I am a native Tennessean who grew up in Chattanooga. When I was 11 years old, I developed epilepsy. Over the years, I’ve tried countless medications, seen multiple neurologists and even have had studies to see if there was a surgical option to help control my seizures.
During a trip to Alaska, my skin became very dry, and I tried many products to find relief. As I researched moisturizers, I was shocked to learn the United States only bans 30 ingredients out of thousands of new ingredients introduced into the market yearly. In contrast, the EU bans more than 1,400 ingredients and Canada bans more than 600.
Since starting to watch what goes on my body, I have not had a seizure in more than 14 months. Now I don’t have to be afraid waiting for the next seizure. To ensure everyone has access to safe products, I urge all Tennesseans to reach out to Sen. Lamar Alexander, who is currently working on cosmetic reform in the U.S. Senate. Let him know we do not want carcinogens, neurotoxins or endocrine disrupters for ourselves or for future generations in the products we use every day.

Diverse opinions should be required reading
Thank you, Chattanooga Times.
Thank you, Chattanooga Free Press.
I wish both the commentary of Leonard Pitts (“Spare me your shock at Trump’s sellout to Putin,” Thursday Chattanooga Times editorial page) and the commentary of columnist Roger Smith (“How wars begin,” Thursday Free Press editorial page) could be required reading.

County commission needs Greg Martin
I have known Greg Martin and his family for many years and consider him to be a family man with a heart for doing what’s best for Hamilton County. This is evidenced by his success in business and accomplishments of service to our community.
Greg enjoys working with people who may have a difference of opinion while working to find common ground that will better our community. Greg took the role as District 3 Board of Education representative very seriously, and his success in that role will speak to that. His roots are in the Hixson community, where he continues to take a leadership role. With his successful business background, Greg brings his business experience with him, which helps him in understanding complex budgets, streamlining, efficient management and frugal spending in government.
I cannot think of a better person to represent District 3 on the county commission.
Please vote for my friend Greg Martin.

Helton has ‘horse sense’ that we need
Many times during elections we have confused minds and voting dilemma to deal with. In this specific election, I feel very comfortable about this candidate, Esther Helton. She is the best candidate running in the Tennessee State House of Representatives District 30 race.
I am helping, supporting and voting for her. The East Brainerd area, which is a great part of District 30, is and has been my residence for over 50 years. I am very happy to have an opportunity to vote for Esther Helton.
I believe you will find that she has good horse sense and will be a great value to all of the voters of the 30th District.
Esther wants to represent all of us. I personally think she intends to and will accomplish doing so. It is important to me to be an American and Tennessean – not just a Republican or Democrat. Let’s elect someone of Esther’s character and values to this Tennessee State House of Representatives District 30 seat.
