Miller Park grand opening announced

A large central area has been cleared so that sod can be added as construction progresses on Miller Park on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in Chattanooga, Tenn. Renovations to the park began last July, and workers have begun adding new greenery as the project approaches its conclusion.

City officials will celebrate the opening on Miller Park next month after it underwent a $10.6 million revamp.

The event is slated for 11 a.m. on Sept. 14.

According to a news release from the city, the $10.6-million project is a public-private endeavor between the City of Chattanooga and numerous partners including River City Company; EPB Fiber Optics; BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation; Benwood Foundation; Lyndhurst Foundation; The Maclellan Family Foundations; The Simpson Organization; DeFoor Brothers Development; First Tennessee Foundation; SunTrust Foundation; Weldon F. Osborne Foundation; the late Fletcher Bright; SmartBank; Pinnacle Financial Partners; Perimeter Properties; Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel; HHM Certified Public Accountants; and Miller & Martin.

More opening weekend events will be announced in the coming weeks.
