A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Walker County, Georgia, Sunday morning.

Robert Chapman was traveling west on Johnson Road in a 2015 Nissan Altima when he drove into the eastbound lane and accelerated to a very high rate of speed, according to a news release from the Georgia State Patrol.

He then crossed Mission Ridge Road, entering the parking lot at the Kwik-E-Mart convenience store.

Chapman continued driving west through the lot and beside the store building, eventually hitting a concrete pad, the news release states. He then drove into a wood line where he crashed into a very large tree.

Chapman was located unrestrained inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walker County coroner.
