Adventures in listening
It’s the end of the day and a recently retired couple are preparing for bed. The husband watches as his wife studies herself in the full-length mirror.
Her birthday is coming up at the end of the week, so he asks what she’d like.
She laughs ruefully. “I’d like to be 8 again,” she answers.
On the morning of her birthday, the husband rises early and brings her a big bowl of Coco Pops for breakfast. Then he tells her to get dressed; they’re going to a theme park.
