Media should report facts ‘honestly’
I wish the media would dilute their smear campaign with the following facts, which “should be reported honestly, and celebrated. The public should know that things are getting demonstrably better, in big ways and in small.” Laura Ingraham.
The stock boom has already created $4 trillion for the economy. U.S. housing and industrial production are up. The 8 percent rise in the gross national product is the best in three years. The White House has 110 fewer employees working for Trump than worked for Obama. This alone results in saving $1.5 million annually. Melania Trump has four staffers while Michelle Obama had 24.
President Trump is donating his entire $400,000 salary.

Assault weapons only for the military
I am a second-grade school teacher. I am horrified, yet again, about school shootings. We are a country that can put a man on the moon, but cannot stop the killings of our precious children. As a teacher, I would suffer guilt for the rest of my life if it happened to one of my students. I feel like I am their protector.
However, I am not a police officer and do not want to be armed; that is not my role. I don’t want to take your gun away from you, so don’t tell me to put one in my hand. Sadly, our representatives care more about the money they receive from the NRA than making decisions that would put children first on their priority list. They must do what is right!
There is something wrong about being able to buy an assault rifle, but not be old enough to buy a beer. This is just insane. The law must change. Assault weapons are for military use, not to kill innocent students. The founding fathers never envisioned such a broad interpretation of the Second Amendment. They carried their gun powder in pouches.

The young must lead so leaders will follow
To all of the young people marching in the streets for gun control: This is your generation’s Vietnam War. A bunch of callous, thoughtless men think it is OK to sacrifice your young lives so that they can have unfettered access to guns. Our baby boomer generation had to march in the streets because a bunch of callous, thoughtless men thought it was OK to sacrifice our young lives so that they could be spared the humiliation of losing an unjust war.
Like the internet meme says: We don’t have political differences, we have moral differences.
Besides marching, you also need to vote, write letters and visit your legislators to remind them just who it is they are supposed to represent. No other country in the world allows their citizens unfettered access to guns. No other country in the world suffers from the overwhelming gun violence like we do. If the people lead, the leaders will follow!
