The Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus of Tennessee will combine to present “A Mighty Fortress,” a performance on Saturday night, March 24, at Cleveland State Community College that includes music from an emerging composer as well as one of the earliest composers of the Romantic period.

The Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by music director Sarah Pearson, will perform the world premiere of a commissioned overture by Logan Fox. Fox is a graduate of Lee University who recently signed with Woodson Publishing Co.

From that modern-day work, the program will turn to Schubert’s Mass in G, performed by the TCO and Chorus of Tennessee, prepared by choral director Dr. Ron Brendel. Soloists for the Mass will be Lenena Brezna, soprano, and James Daniel Frost, tenor, both of Cleveland; and Justin Colon, baritone, from Nashville.

Concluding the evening, TCO will play Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5 “Reformation.”
