SATURDAY’S STAR
Furman running back Devin Wynn finished with 96 rushing yards, including a 50-yard run up the middle on the Paladins’ second possession for his team’s lone touchdown in the win.
SATURDAY’S STAT
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore receiver Bryce Nunnelly caught eight passes for 52 yards, becoming only the fourth player in school history to go over 1,000 yards in season and the first since Joel Bradford had a school-record 1,284 in 2010.
TURNING POINT
Down 10-0, the Mocs drove into Furman territory with a chance to cut into the lead late in the first half, but Nick Tiano was intercepted by the Paladins’ Aaquill Annoor, who returned it 33 yards into UTC territory. The Paladins tacked on a field goal to make it 13-0 at halftime.
THE BIG PLAY
Wynn’s 50-yard run was the only big play of the game, but it quickly swung the momentum in Furman’s direction at a time when the Mocs appeared to have it in their favor.
WHAT IT MEANS
It’s likely the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs are out of the picture for the Mocs. They had chances early to take the game over but never were able to capitalize. A win on senior day against Mercer and a respectable performance at South Carolina can be a solid finish to the season, but three losses in winnable games will leave a sour taste.
