Reauthorize Land and Water Conservation Fund for next generations
As a young person (age 14) who enjoys the outdoors and cares deeply about everyone in my community, it frightens me to think our land could be destroyed.
One of the ways we can protect our land from the issues it is facing is by bringing back the Land and Water Conservation Fund. LWCF has been protecting and conserving land since 1965 and has supported us economically by contributing money to recreational activities and creating jobs. Even in our own community, LWCF has been of help in preserving public lands.
Although we have so many things to consider for the future, there is a lot we can do right now. If we urge Sen. Alexander to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund, we can save what we would lose if we hesitate. Instead of focusing on the past, we must focus on the future. In order for conservation to be a success, we must make a commitment to funding LWCF properly and serving the American people.
If we can do that, my generation and all the other generations to come will be able to live in a more reassured state.
