The city of Red Bank is preparing for its annual Christmas Festival, set for Friday, Dec. 7 from 4-8 p.m. at City Park, located on Dayton Boulevard across from Food City. A city tradition for at least a quarter of a century, the festival features a parade, vendors and a visit from Ol’ Saint Nick.

“It’s very family oriented,” said City Recorder Ruthie Rohen, who’s helped to plan the festival for about 10 years. Volunteers Sonja Millard and incoming Commissioner Ruth Jeno have each been involved in the event for two decades, Rohen added.

While the event had been moved to daytime hours for several years, organizers are going back to holding it on Friday night this year.

“Everything is lit up and feels festive,” Rohen said.

A children’s area is planned for the tennis courts, where there will be bounce houses and kids’ activities such as cookie decorating, face painting and crafts.

Community groups, businesses, clubs and sports teams are encouraged to participate in the parade, which begins at 6 p.m. that night. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Nov. 21.

For registration forms or more information, visit the city’s website at redbanktn.gov or call 877-1103.
