The holidays have arrived at El Meson, Chattanooga’s favorite family-owned, family-friendly rollicking Mexican restaurante. That means two big things: tamales and Tennessee football giveaways.
“Tamales are a big hit this time of year,” said Tony Ruiz, who owns the Hixson location. “It is a Mexican tradition!”
While El Meson’s pork tamales are available on its everyday menu, its pork, chicken and cheese poblano tamales can now be ordered in bulk to-go, helping to add some authentic Mexican spice to your family’s year-end feast.
Speaking of family, the members of Tony’s are huge fans of Tennessee football. Four out of five Ruiz family members – all of whom have a hand in the restaurants – graduated from the University of Tennessee. Both El Meson locations screen both college football and NFL Sunday Ticket on their multiple high-definition, big-screen TVs located throughout the restaurants.
During Tennessee games, when the Vols score El Meson offers $3 shots of “Big Orange Ole Smoky Moonshine.” When customers come to the restaurants wearing something to show their support of the Vols or the Titans, El Meson offers them one free taco.
Indeed, El Meson gets festive this time of year, but the party is just getting started. Next year El Meson’s Hixson location turns 10, and party planning is already underway, said Tony.
