The outside lanes of the Olgiati Bridge will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Friday and continuing through Monday so crews can work under the bridge.

Jennifer Flynn, spokeswoman for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, said the closures will affect both directions of traffic across the Tennessee River.

Traffic will be shifted to the two inside lanes both north- and southbound, Flynn said, which is expected to cause significant traffic delays.

Some ramps will be affected as well, she said.

  • The on-ramp traffic from Manufacturers Road to U.S. 27 South at the Olgiati Bridge will remain open, but the ramp will be shortened during the work, so traffic merging onto U.S. 27 South should exercise extra caution.
  • The on-ramp traffic from Fourth Street to U.S. 27 North at the Olgiati Bridge will remain open, but motorists will be required to stop before merging onto U.S. 27 North.

Additional temporary ramp closures or traffic shifts may be necessary as this work continues on different sections of the bridge.

Drivers are urged to obey the signage and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone.
