This is the definition of a foul situation.

The growing parts of North Hamilton County need a new water treatment facility. Desperately.

The folks already in the growing parts of North Hamilton County are against that facility being built in their neighborhood. Desperately.

So that leaves us between the needs of the many and the wants of some specifically located few.

Here’s the simple truth: That facility is coming.

Here’s the stinky truth: Wherever it lands is almost assuredly going to make a neighborhood upset.

___

Out of order

I am all for business trying to add new things or new offerings.

In that regard, kudos to the folks at Krystal for adding some new Southern-inspired items to the menu, including the recent addition of the maple-bourbon flavored milkshake.

OK. Appreciate the innovation but this is confusing.

Somebody must have missed the memo on the order of things, apparently.

Because everyone knows that you get your fill of liquor drinks BEFORE getting a sackful of Krystals, not during or after. C’mon people. It’s science.

___

Convenient calls for togetherness

Hey, no one is going to be against calls for unity among Americans.

That’s as agreeable a stance as puppies being cute and littering being bad.

Heck, even President Donald Trump is calling for unity. Whether he broke out in hives is anyone’s guess.

Hey, before anyone fires up the email machine, I voted for Trump.

But even those who voted for him have to understand and realize that Trump has made his mark politically in every way other than unity.

Here’s hoping that the president realizes unity should be an always goal, not a convenient call toward issues of his interest.

___

Saturday stars

Gang, there are too many from which to choose.

But this week let’s go with the kids at Hickerson Elementary School in Tullahoma, Tenn.

This group of youngsters, with the help of their teachers, learned how to perform “Happy Birthday” in sign language to help their hearing-impaired custodian celebrate his 60th birthday.

Now that’s unity.
