SATURDAY’S STAR
Georgia sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm bounced back from his subpar showing two weeks ago at LSU by completing 17 of 24 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. He went wire-to-wire as part of an offense that was 8-of-14 on third-down conversions.
SATURDAY’S STAT
With the 36-17 triumph on top of last year’s 42-7 whipping, the Bulldogs have topped Florida by 15 or more points in consecutive seasons for the first time since Georgia won six straight blowouts from 1941 to 1947. The two teams did not play in 1943 due to World War II.
TURNING POINT
Florida had pulled within 23-17 early in the fourth quarter and had the Bulldogs facing third-and-11 from their 39-yard line with 10 minutes remaining. Fromm passed to Jeremiah Holloman for 15 yards to Florida’s 46, and Georgia wound up scoring to put the game away.
HIGHLIGHT PLAY
After a Jake Camarda punt was downed by Mecole Hardman at Florida’s 1-yard line, Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks was stuffed by Bulldogs cornerback Tyrique McGhee, who caused a fumble that Tae Crowder recovered. The Bulldogs had to settle for a field goal.
WHAT IT MEANS
With Georgia’s win and with Kentucky’s stunning rally at Missouri, the Bulldogs and Wildcats will face off this week in Lexington in a winner-take-all matchup for the SEC East title. Whoever wins will be 6-1 in Southeastern Conference play with one game remaining and would hold the tiebreaker edge.
