UTC announces wrestling schedule

First-year University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling coach Kyle Ruschell announced his program’s schedule for the 2018-19 season Thursday morning.

The Mocs will have five home matches at Maclellan Gymnasium as well as the annual Southern Scuffle on Jan. 1-2 at McKenzie Arena.

UTC will have five home matches, highlighted by a Nov. 11 date against North Carolina, who finished 20th in the 2018 NCAA championships.

In addition to the Scuffle, the team will compete in four in-season tournaments: Nov. 4 at the Hokie Open in Blacksburg, Va.; Nov. 18 at the Wolfpack Open in Raleigh, N.C.; Dec. 2 at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville tournament in Edwardsville, Ill; and Jan. 11-12 at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va.

The Mocs were 8-7 in 2017-18 and return five starters, led by Southern Conference champion and 125-pounder Alonzo Allen.
