Two nationally known comedians, showcase of local talent coming up at Comedy Catch

Two nationally known comedians and a showcase of local talent are scheduled in the coming week at The Comedy Catch, 1400 Market St.

If you're an Alabama Crimson Tide fan, then you won't want to miss Jermaine "FunnyMaine" Johnson on Thursday, April 18, at the comedy club. Johnson is a lifelong Bama fan, and his "How Bama Fans" videos on Facebook and YouTube average more than 1.5 million views per week.

Show times are 7 and 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $35 VIP, which includes a meet-and-greet.

» Mike Paramore, whose album "The Things We Tell Ourselves" is out on iTunes and Amazon, takes the Comedy Catch stage on Friday-Saturday, April 19-20.

Paramore won the 2015 Cleveland Comedy Festival, the 2016 Laughing Devil Festival in New York City, the 2017 Laugh Fest's Best in the Midwestas well as Best of the Fest at the 2018 Big Pine Comedy Festival. He was featured on AXTV's Live at Gotham in New York City and is a featured comedian on Fox's hit show "Laughs."

Tickets are $16 for Friday's 7:30 show and for the 7:30 or 9:45 p.m. shows on Saturday.

» The World Series of Comedy preliminary round, hosted by Bridget Martin, takes place at The Comedy Catch on Wednesday, April 24.

Regional and local talent will perform in a showcase competition to advance to the May 29 qualifier round. The winner of that round advances to a satellite competition in Sarasota, Florida.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.
