A 26-year-old man is facing a long list of charges after Red Bank police say he resisted arrest, kicked them and damaged a patrol vehicle on Saturday.

Police were called to a home in the Vivid Lofts apartment complex at 4103 Dayton Boulevard just after 3 p.m. when a man said his brother, Andrew Gibson, was in the apartment but wasn’t supposed to be, Red Bank court records show. The man told police his brother was supposed to vacate the residence, according to his conditions of release from jail.

When police arrived, they spotted a “fresh foot print” on the door, suggesting it’d been kicked in, court documents state. An officer knocked on the door, and Gibson told him he would “light [him] up through the door” if he didn’t leave.

The officer then drew his service weapon and told Gibson to “come out peacefully,” according to court records.

Another officer arrived and Gibson finally opened the door, telling them he “just wanted to get his things and he would be gone,” court documents state.

The officers tried to detain Gibson, but he ran into the back bedroom where an officer tried to grab his arm, but they both ended up falling to the floor, court records show.

Police then used a stun gun and were able to get him into custody.

But once they got him in the parking lot, Gibson began “locking his left leg around [the officer’s] leg, causing [them] to fall into the parking lot,” court records state. He did the same to another officer before being secured with a feet restraining device.

As that was playing out, Gibson was “screaming in the parking lot that police were assaulting him,” and threatened to “kill all Red Bank officers in ambushes,” court documents state.

Police finally got Gibson into the patrol vehicle.

But he figured out how to unbuckle himself, move his hands to his front and remove the feet restraining device, according to an arrest report.

Gibson then laid down in the back of the police vehicle and began kicking the door and window bars and pulling the door handle so hard it came off.

He was finally taken into the Hamilton County Jail where he was booked on three counts of assault on police, resisting arrest, retaliation for past actions, attempted escape, aggravated burglary, violation of conditions of release, property damage over $1,000, and disorderly conduct.

One of the officers had to go to a local hospital for treatment, the arrest report states.

Gibson has no Hamilton County arrest history, online court records show. But he does have one prior arrest in Red Bank, according to Times Free Press records. He had been arrested for aggravated domestic assault and vandalism 10 days prior on April 17.
