The Colonnade Players will bring to the stage tales from "The Arabian Nights" when the play opens Friday, Aug. 16, for five performances in The Colonnade.

In the play, King Shahrayar's wife has had an affair with another man. In a rage of vengeance, he sets off to remarry and put to death a new wife each day.

Shahrazad, the daughter of the King's adviser, offers to marry the king in hopes that she can be the one to mend his heart and teach him to love once more.

To stall her execution, she tells him a plot-twisting story each night, leaving the ending untold so he will keep her alive another day. But what happens when she runs out of story to tell?
