Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union is building a new and bigger branch in Dayton, Tennessee.
Officials with the region’s biggest credit union gathered today with Dayton Mayor Gary Louallen and Rhea County Executive George Thacker to break ground for the new office, which is located at 3475 Rhea County Highway between Lowe’s and Bojangles.
The new Dayton branch is scheduled to open early next year and will include more than 2,000 square feet. It will replace the smaller existing TVFCU office at 420 Market Street in Dayton, which has operated since 1986.
The new credit union office will feature a more modern design and is being built by Dillard Construction Co. in Dayton, which also built TVFCU’s main offices on Chestnut Street in downtown Chattanooga.
The new Dayton office will offer extended drive-through hours from 7 a..m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the new office also will be open on Saturday in Dayton for the first time, company spokeswoman Jessica McCosh said.
TVFCU operates 18 offices in its 13-county area across Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia and serves more than 145,000 members.
From its start in 1936 by a group of TVA employees, TVFCU has grown into the region’s biggest credit union with assets of more than $1.5 billion.
