The Chattanooga Lookouts had the biggest of the big innings in a game with plenty of them Friday night at AT&T Field.

The Montgomery Biscuits had more of them, though, on their way to a 17-6 victory to ruin the opener of the Lookouts’ final home series of the 2019 Southern League season.

After Montgomery (85-46) scored four runs in the second and five in the fourth, Chattanooga (56-73) responded with a six-run fifth to get right back into the game.

Samir Duenez led off with a home run, and after back-to-back singles by Brantley Bell and Michael Beltre, Chris Okey’s double to left field cut it to 9-3. Michael O’Neill was hit by a pitch with one out, then scored on Stuart Fairchild’s triple. The Lookouts made it 9-6 when Gavin LaValley’s two-out single drove in Okey and Fairchild.

But the Biscuits – who homered four times and totaled 25 hits to Chattanooga’s nine – scored five more runs in the eighth and a final three in the ninth as they improved to 41-20 in the second half of the season while dropping the Lookouts to 20-40.

The series continues Saturday night at 7:15.
