A single-vehicle crash on Alabama Highway 40 about 11:30 p.m CST Thursday claimed the life of 32-year-old Ider, Alabama, resident Shelley L. Terrell Burns, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman trooper Curtis Summerville.

Burns was killed when the 1998 Mitsubishi she was driving left the road, struck a ditch and overturned three miles east of Scottsboro, Summerville said in a statement. Burns, who was not using a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

An investigation is continuing.
