Merry Christmas!
I have a large family with whom I celebrate the holidays: two parents (naturally), nine brothers and sisters, a sister-in-law, two nephews and one niece. Needless to say, Christmas shopping can get overwhelming. So we draw names for our holiday gift-giving. Still, almost without fail, my spending spirals out of control as I think of “perfect” gifts for everyone, not just the one person on my list. And, also without fail, those gift ideas come at the last minute.
I’m not alone. A September report on the busiest shopping days of the year gives the penultimate title to the Saturday before Christmas, and another survey estimates that 62% of Americans do their Christmas shopping in the week before the holiday.
To all you fellow procastinators, good luck and godspeed. And merry Christmas to all.
