The Eternal Optimist
I read once that people who are chronically late are optimists, at least when it comes to time. My partner, Jon, has a few other words for it, but, being the optimist that I am, I have not embraced those; though, I will admit that I usually believe I can fit more things into the allotted time than is actually feasible.
Such is the case when it comes to the year’s end. This year, for instance, I have not read as much as I’d hoped, paid off enough debt (quite the opposite, actually), or drastically changed my eating habits. This is probably why I’ve never really liked New Year’s Eve: too final; too many loose ends.
But this year feels different. With the birth of a new decade on the horizon, I see all the possibility that is stretched out before us – not just one year, but 10. Here’s to optimism.
