I’m a proud vet (USAF, 1956-60), like thousands of others who served this great country. Many, men and women, gave their all on foreign soils to keep from bringing the fight to the USA.
Now, we have a new Congress wanting to open our Southern borders to anyone and everyone. Do our elected representatives and senators know the difference between right or wrong, legal or illegal? Or, is it “Just come on in”? After all, why send our troops to fight and die on lands far from home while Congress is letting illegal aliens cross our borders freely.
Oh, I know. We (Congress) are not giving that guy in the White House one last dime for anything. Zilch. Nothing. If his name is Trump, give him nothing.
I say this: Give this new, liberal Congress nothing. Nothing. No pay. When its members start doing what they were elected for – representing this country and their home state – then give them a check. Needless to say, they are highly overpaid for what they are doing.
The left-wing liberal agenda is a reason I am going to vote for Trump in 2020 and am proud of it.

‘Non Sequitur’: Some folks need offending
Looks like you would have figured out by now that we faithful newspaper readers hate change of any kind on our beloved comics page. I will also go out on a limb and bet you that there are more of us faithful newspaper readers who find the current occupant of the White House a fascist blowhard and a serious threat to civilization than who are touchy about slurs to his (dubious) honor. I was appalled when I noticed your notice about dumping “Non Sequitur” for some alleged insult to Trump buried so deep and disguised so completely that I never would have seen it if you hadn’t pointed it out (and as much as I squinted, I still ain’t entirely sure).
“Non Sequitur” is funny and clever. If it occasionally offends somebody, maybe some people need offending, and maybe offending them is what newspapers are supposed to do. Anyway, one thing newspapers are definitely supposed to do is stand up for themselves and their features, freedom of speech, truth, justice, the American Way, all that. I sure wish you would show some courage! And, I also wish you would stop messing with my funnies!

On politics, move forward, not back
I am sickened about the abortion bills that were passed in New York and attempted in the state of Virginia. But I am really tired of these people who go back 20 or 30 years to dig up dirt on people such as judges up for confirmation hearings and the governor or Virginia.
How many of us have things in our past when we were stupid and immature that we may regret? Let them cast the first stone. We need to move forward, not backward. What would Cory Booker or Kamala Harris have in their background that needs to be exposed? Get over it.
Bernie Sanders making merry with Communists – now that’s collusion. Of course, it is hard to move forward if you are constantly looking backward.
My letter may not be published, but ones running down the Republicans and Donald Trump always are. You definitely have some “winners” running for the Democratic nomination, especially the bartender turned senator.
