It’s time to remove our main problem

The far right Trump cult has allowed itself to be whipped into such misinformation frenzy that colossal lying from our president is completely acceptable. The misplaced, excessive admiration of Trump’s right-wing cult has allowed lies to become normal behavior with our president.

Promises made without follow-through become lies – i.e., Mexico will pay for the Southern border wall. We can argue over his degree of deception; however, even the least educated person knows his speech-making is continuously immersed in deception. Trump’s lies have now reached the acute trauma scale, requiring absolute scrutiny together with judicial curative action.

Our democracy depends on trust; the degree of Trump’s lies coupled with his eccentric actions has reached a level that very much resembles that of a dictatorship.

Regrettably, we the people have, at the highest level, permitted an autocratic cult leader to penetrate our democratic political system. What’s more, history has proven debasing and destroying the free press is the first step toward dictatorship. White House briefings are now deceitful in nature and have become a comic story.

When our leader’s promises become lies and his erratic behavior becomes intolerable, our judicial system must correct by removing the problem.

Lean not to your own understanding

Replying to columnist David Cook’s recent commentary on the upcoming Methodist vote: A Christian follows Christ. A Methodist follows John Wesley’s method of following Christ, which is forming Holy Clubs to learn from Scripture, sing hymns and help the less fortunate.

David Cook and Charles Neal say if Methodists follow Christ and Paul on same-sex relationships, we will have to follow them on women in the church and on divorce, so Methodists should not follow them.

They pretend this is a more enlightened interpretation of Scripture, but they call what the Bible says “cultural prejudice” so that they don’t have to follow it and can substitute their current politically correct fashion instead.

Blessing sin does not help sinners; it fools them. The only sexual orientation is toward sex, which is male and female, which are the only gender identities; the rest are gender confusion dualities.

David and Charles, you sound like two non-Methodist non-Christians who want to lead Methodist Christians astray. Please stop leaning on your own understanding and renew your commitments to follow Christ rather than attempt to lead him.

Christians still suffering for faith

Did you read in the newspaper about Aasia Bibi, a poor Pakistani lady? Hers is the only Christian family living in a small village with a Muslim majority. Her family has been repeatedly urged to convert to Islam.

One day, she got in an argument with a Muslim woman who insulted Christianity. Aasia could not endure such insults and responded, “I believe in my religion and in Jesus Christ who died on the cross for the sins of mankind. What did your prophet Mohammad ever do to save mankind? And why should it be me to convert instead of you?”

Aasia was put in jail for eight years on the charges of blasphemy and insulting Islam. She was released after serving her time in jail, but she has been hiding from the villagers who believe she should be put to death for insulting Mohammad.

Years ago, I used to read about the early Christians who suffered for their faith in Rome. Many Christians around the world like this woman still suffer for their faith by Muslims who say, “We will fight non-Muslims forever in the cause of Allah.”
