A Soddy-Daisy home was destroyed by fire early Friday.

The incident happened just before 5:30 a.m. when a man called 911 to report his home, located in the 1900 block of Wilkes Avenue, was on fire, according to a news release.

The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported that the mobile home was fully engulfed.

Firefighters confirmed all occupants had made it out of the home and began extinguishing the blaze.

Dallas Bay requested additional manpower and the Red Bank Fire Department responded to the scene. The Soddy-Daisy and Chattanooga fire department stood by at Dallas Bay fire stations for any additional emergency calls in their district.

The homeowner told Dallas Bay fire officials that he awoke to his bed on fire. He was able to throw his blankets out the window but could not extinguish the fire on his mattress.

The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time, but the home is a total loss. Two cars and two adjacent homes also were damaged. No injuries were reported.
