Providing for illegal border crossers too much

Please ask Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat Party how long the $5 billion the president has asked for to build more border wall would last to provide housing, clothes, food and medical attention for the thousands of illegal aliens trying to cross the border now.

Remember they are from Third World countries and have no extra clothing, no household furnishings, no residual food and often require immediate medical evaluation, either medication, hospitalization or other medical needs (glasses, hearing aids, heart intensive care).

Then they’ll require maintenance until they can earn a living and begin to pay taxes. Until this happens our taxes must be increased; those taxes are already stressful for most taxpayers.

Voters, not God, chose president of USA

This is in response to the recent letter who asked: “What in the world did we do for God to punish us with Donald Trump?”

First, God is not a ruthless judge waiting to punish us when we do bad things.

Secondly, President Trump was elected by people who recognized the damage that has been done to our Constitution, our form of government, our nation’s education system, our economy, our culture, our international stature and our very existence as a sovereign nation. Over the course of several decades, the Left’s forces of change have conducted a long-term effort to undermine the very foundation that has made our country great.

All one had to do is consider the tremendous growth of our nanny government and the current rise of socialism in today’s politics. We are more regulated, less educated and more dependent than ever before.

If our electorate had wished to build on the destructive path laid out by the Left, Donald Trump would not be president today. Fortunately, the voters, not God, chose the wiser course despite Trump’s less attractive qualities.

Restaurants urged to cool it on spices

What is it with so many restaurants adding chipotle, horseradish and jalapenos to all their food? Do they not realize that some people do not like, and others who cannot eat for different reasons, spicy food?

I read a review in the TFP’s Jan. 24 Chattanooga Now about a new restaurant where their fries’ seasoning “… left a little heat at the end. A little too spicy for my taste.” This from a staff writer.

I have had to pass on so many dishes because the owner or chef doesn’t give the customer a choice. Some dishes need to be cooked with spices because if added at the table they are not the same. But remember the many who do not want this.

Crisis is in White House, not the border

Mr. President:

You talked a lot lately about a humanitarian crisis at our Southern border. You dispatched several thousand armed American troops to the border to string barbed wire and protect our country from the “vicious caravan of terrorists.”

In my opinion, the only humanitarian crisis at our border was the one you caused by separating families and keeping the traumatized children in cages.

Today, no one has to go to the border to see a genuine humanitarian crisis. All one needs to do is look at the 800,000 innocent loyal Americans whose jobs were taken away and who suffered because you, Mr. President, are desperate to protect your inflated ego, and satisfy your political base.

Mr. President, that is the real humanitarian crisis.
