Multiple Chattanooga area restaurants were cited for various issues in this week’s restaurant report card.
An employee at Subway on Market Street was found to be unaware of the illness policy. Unauthorized personnel and opened beverages were found in prep areas, which caused the eatery to receive a score of 85.
Saks Wing Shak, located at 3911 Brainerd Road, received a score of 88 after it was found to be in need of a deep clean as tongs and several other kitchen surfaces had lots of grime build up. Flies were present due to the build up and uncovered trash. A cook was also sweating onto food due to the extremely hot kitchen temperature.
In North Georgia, two restaurants were dinged. Hardee’s at 12876 North Hwy. 27 got an 89 after the health inspector found expired milk from July 7 as well as build up on the ice maker, food containers and floors.
Bojangles, located at 2445 North Hwy. 27, also received an 89 for flies, a condensation drain leaking in prep cooler and loose litter around the dumpster pad.

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspects restaurants twice a year and grades the businesses on a 100-point scale. Scores below 70 require corrective action.
Restaurants are reinspected if they fail to meet critical standards. To file a health-related complaint, call the Department of Environmental Health at 209-8110. The scores are original and do not reflect on-the-spot changes, which sometimes lead to upward adjustments.
