Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured, reportedly in the 800 block of Gillespie Road Thursday evening. The incident comes a week after a similar shooting in the same area.
The 911 call came in just after 6 p.m. Thursday, and the victim was driven to a local hospital for treatment via a privately-owned vehicle.
His exact condition is not known at this time, though his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
It was the second shooting to take place on Gillespie Road within 24 hours. Earlier Thursday morning, police shot a suspect who threatened them with a gun as they carried out search warrant for illegal firearms.
That suspect, 23-year-old Camaron Billips, was taken to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, per police department policy.
At this point, police have not confirmed whether the two shootings are connected.
Last Thursday, police responded shortly after 2 p.m. to a call regarding a shooting that also reportedly took place in the 800 block of Gillespie Road. A 25-year-old man said he had been riding in a car when he heard gunshots and realized he had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital and the CPD Violent Crimes Bureau began investigating the alleged scene of the shooting.
