Make Movie Night(s) Special
There are not one, not two, but three unique, family-friendly movie showings this week.
Tomorrow, July 31, Miller Park will become the launchpad for “Forbidden Planet” beginning at 7:30 p.m. Filled to the brim with robots, monsters and alien locales, this iconic science fiction flick will answer the question of what happened to make all communications from a recently colonized planet full of scientists go quiet. It will also feature a special introduction to give attendees a bit more on why what they’re about to see is so special. To help make sure this special evening is available to all, the screening is free, though you may want to pack some dough for the on-site food trucks.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, Chester Frost Park visitors can take movie viewing to new depths with a special screening of “Jaws 2.” Just imagine watching that movie while bobbing in open water on a float with your feet dangling! Get there early to secure a spot and some concessions. Gates open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 in advance via tinyurl.com/HamCoParksCal, or $15 day of (cash only).
Finally, Sunday holds a special opportunity to take in a classic with the Bobby Stone Film Series’ screening of “The Wizard of Oz” at the Tivoli. With two showings that day and only a $5 admission fee, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t follow the yellow brick road. Purchase tickets at the box office or in advance at tivolichattanooga.com/events/bobby-stone-film-series.
