Gas prices are up and it’s almost A/C season. So let’s talk about that long-held belief that running your car’s air conditioner wastes gas. Is it true?

Well, yeah, kinda.

According to Pep Boys, the automotive retail and service chain, you are more likely to burn up gas when you run the air conditioner in stop-and-go traffic. So, when you’re city driving, roll down your windows to improve fuel efficiency.

However, if you’re on the highway, by opting for the A/C instead of open windows, you create less wind resistance, thus you save gas.

Happy driving!
