There is an adage on the PGA Tour stating that tournaments cannot be won on a Thursday, but they certainly can be lost then.

Chattanooga Lookouts manager Pat Kelly believes that often applies to April baseball as well.

“I really think, especially in this league, that the first month is about getting your feet wet and not burying yourself,” Kelly said this past weekend. “If you hover around .500, everybody starts to feel comfortable once they get 100 at-bats underneath them and get some innings as a pitcher.

“We’re starting to get to that point.”

The Lookouts were off Tuesday and will start their May schedule Wednesday in Birmingham. Chattanooga lost 11 of its first 17 games but closed April by winning five of six to post an 11-12 month.
