The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera’s Chamber Series will return to Chattanooga State Community College’s Humanities Theater on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m.
The concert will feature music composed by Franz Joseph Haydn, dubbed “Father of the Symphony,” who revolutionized the string quartet. The program includes the “Il Mondo Della Luna Overture,” Symphony No. 83 and Symphony No. 82.
David Rahbee, University of Washington Symphony Orchestra music director and conductor, will join the CSO as guest conductor. He is currently senior artist in residence at the University of Washington School of Music in Seattle.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Chattanooga State for our Chamber Series,” says Samantha Teter, CSO executive director.
“The Humanities Theatre provides the perfect setting for these smaller ensemble performances, giving the audience an up-close look at our musicians as they perform a wide range of works from the past and present. This season’s programming will emphasize the work of female composers and incorporate some exciting collaborations, including performances with the CSO Chorus and Chattanooga Ballet.”
Ticketholders are invited to stay for the post-concert talk immediately following the performance.
Seating for the concert is general admission. Tickets are $28 and can be purchased by calling the CSO Box Office at 423-267-8583 or online at chattanooga symphony.org.
