Chattanooga police have arrested a suspect they say was involved in a drug overdose death last year, according to a CPD news release.

James K. Harbison, 52, has been charged with tampering/fabricating evidence and filing false reports since the March 28, 2018 drug overdose of 37-year-old Erik Patty. Police had responded to a local hospital to find Patty alone and unresponsive in a parking lot. Despite receiving immediate medical treatment, Patty was pronounced dead on April 1, 2018, the release states.

Since the original call, narcotics investigators have “conducted extensive follow-up investigation” that led to Harbison’s arrest on Tuesday.

Harbison has been booked into the Hamilton County Jail as CPD narcotics officers continue investigating, according to the release.
