Over the years, local musician/artist Nick Lutsko has proven to be as creative as he is talented. And he tends to do things in a big way. Which is why his show on Friday night, Oct. 25, at The Signal promises to be like no other. It doesn’t hurt that Halloween will be less than a week away, either.
In addition to being a masquerade party with lots of visual aspects and special guests, the show is also the official release event for “Swords,” the new album Lutsko recorded with his band, The Gimmix.
Joining them Friday will be Narcoleptic Birds, who will do a short, but spooky, set beginning at 8 p.m. The Fridge will follow, then the main attraction will take the stage along with giant puppets, performance art pieces, the UTC Marching Brass, Subterranean Cirqus, The Pop-Up Project and The Chattahooligans.
In 2016, Lutsko and The Gimmix performed at Nightfall, and followed that show with a parade down Market Street to the Chattanooga Choo Choo, where they headlined a post-Nightfall show.
“The goal is to encapsulate the energy of our 2016 post-Nightfall puppet parade and transform The Signal into a Halloween freak show,” Lutsko says of Friday’s show.
In addition to recording the new album with bandmates Eric “Greezy Rick” Parham, Jacob “Brother Jacob” Lutsko, Jon “Professor Hornsby” Elliot and Adam “Ole Stumpy” Brown, Lutsko utilizes the services of guest artists Adam Brown, David Peyton, Megan Chisom, Josh Holritz, Stephen Bearden, Bill Wynn and Erika Schager.
Brian Lucey mastered the CD.
Lutsko has also recently created a few songs and videos for Netflix. The first, which is online now, was released to coincide with “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” and is called “The Ballad of Jesse Pinkman.”
He previously created songs and videos from Super Deluxe and CollegeHumor that amassed more than 100 million views. Among them are “Kanye West as a Tame Impala Song,” and “Cersei As a Billie Eilish Song.”
