The Southern League on Monday announced that Chattanooga Lookouts president Rich Mozingo was its Jimmy Bragan Executive of the Year for the 2019 season. Chattanooga increased its attendance by nearly 300 fans per game in its 20th season at AT&T Field. "The team has increased attendance via creative marketing and promotions and continues to sell out staples such as July 3rd and Used Car night," the league stated in a release. "Rich and his staff continue to oversee and make sure community programs such as Most Improved Student and Food Drive Sundays are a yearly success." The Lookouts also earned the honor of Don Mincher Organization of the Year, with the league pointing out that they produced record revenue due to a surge in group ticket sales. The league also commended the Lookouts for increasing sponsorship by 9% over last season. Lookouts' trainer Tyler Moos was named Trainer of the Year and bat boy Michael Hawkins was named Bat Boy of the Year, as well.

* University of Tennessee at Chattanooga running back Ailym Ford had one of the best freshman performances in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision this past weekend. In fact, his 127 rushing yards on 22 carries at Jacksonville State in his first college start earned him an honorable mention in the STATS FCS National Player of the Week consideration. According to a UTC release, Ford is the first Mocs true freshman in almost 13 years to run for more than 100 yards in a game, and he's fourth among Southern Conference players with 88.5 rushing yards per game. Erroll Wynn had 131 as a UTC freshman in November 2006, also against JSU.
Soccer
* Sewanee goalkeeper James Murray and Covenant College counterpart Paul Lemay both were selected men's soccer defensive players of the week in their respective conferences after their 1-1 standoff Saturday in Sewanee's Kyle Rote Jr. Invitational, following shutout wins Friday night. Murray got the Southern Athletic Association honor with eight saves and has 15 in four matches; Lemay had 10 for the weekend.
* Tennessee Wesleyan junior Kuda Nhiwatiwa was the Appalachian Athletic Conference men's soccer defensive player of the week, and TWU senior keeper Kelly Morine was the women's defensive honoree while Bryan College junior Makena Giles from Athens earned the offensive honor. Giles' three goals led a 3-1 win over Dalton State; Morine made six saves in a 1-0 defeat of Life.
Golf
* Led by medalist Zack Russell with a 5-under-par 139, the Sewanee men's golfers won the 36-hole Southern Athletic Association Preview on Sunday at the GreyStone club in Dickson, Tennessee. The Tigers totaled 570 (276-294) with 20th-ranked Berry second at 575, No. 23 Rhodes third at 577 and No. 11 Oglethorpe fourth at 580. Besides Russell, who had a first-round 64, Sewanee's Woodson Smith and Grayson Maddox tied for fifth individually at 143.
* The Dalton State men's golf team, ranked 12th in the NAIA, led the Memphis Shootout by 22 strokes at 567 after Monday's two rounds at TPC Southwind. Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland were second and third at 589 and 592. DSC seniors and former Heritage High School teammates Ben Rebne and Sport Allmond were second and tied for third individually at 137 (66-71) and 141 (71-70), and Matthew Cleary was sixth at 144, Eli Hendricks eighth at 146 and Zach Womack tied for 15th at 148.
* Tennessee Wesleyan junior Kelsey Cassada from Walker Valley High School was the AAC women's golfer of the week for her third-place 152 in the Lady Bulldogs' team triumph in the Point University Invitational.
* Eric Sharp of Dalton tied for 11th at 154 and Randy Bowman of Summerville shared 14th place at 155 in the Georgia Public Links Championship this past weekend in Rome. Bowman closed with a 76 Sunday, when Sharp shot an 82 on the Stonebridge course. Chris Waters of Atlanta won by seven strokes at 136 for his third Public Links state title - tying Calhoun's Brent Sizemore (1998, 1999, 2007) for the most. Billy Mitchell of Roswell, the 2010 and 2011 champion, was second this year.
