A nightclub near the Chattanooga Airport received a failing grade and a Hixson eatery got low marks after a recent Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspection.
Saloon 75 Sur at 6175 Airways Blvd. failed with a score of 56 after a health inspection found inadequate food-safety knowledge among staff and management, lack of handwashing and glove use and improper food temperatures. There were also several other violations.
Armando's at 7330 Hixson Pike received a score of 70 after an inspection discovered moldy lemons stored with non-moldy lemons in a walk-in cooler, dirty surfaces in prep and storage areas and excessive grease buildup around the fryer. Also, old tea bags and spilled food outside the eatery were attracting flies.
Nine area restaurants received perfect scores.

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department inspects restaurants twice a year and grades the businesses on a 100-point scale. Scores below 70 require corrective action.
Restaurants are reinspected if they fail to meet critical standards. To file a health-related complaint, call the Department of Environmental Health at 209-8110. The scores are original and do not reflect on-the-spot changes, which sometimes lead to upward adjustments.
