What to do this weekend
You don’t have to wait until next month’s Chatter comes out to see the artist featured in our monthly “Sketchbook” piece. In fact, you’d be missing a cool opportunity to see her in action. Local artist Jen Swearington crafts intricate cutouts of places, using the shadows they create to illustrate the power of a moment both fleeting and impactful. Her exhibit opens with a reception on Friday at River Gallery in the Bluff View Art District, and on Saturday, she’ll be leading a paper sculpture demo from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
