Greetings, Chattanooga!
The American Indian woman who has graced the packaging of Land O’Lakes butter since the late 1920s has quietly disappeared. The company’s goal was to be more politically sensitive.
Many of you may remember when our own University of Tennessee at Chattanooga went through a similar evolution. For decades, UTC Mocs stood for “Moccasins,” and the logo was an Indian. In 1996, however, the college decided to rebrand, adopting the mockingbird as its new identity.
As I like to say, onward and upward!
And now, today’s top stories:
A Sale Creek teen saved a Chattanooga Sports Hall of Famer last week after swimming mishap.
Here’s how two local paddlers experienced the coronavirus crisis during an 18-day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon.
And, when disaster strikes, often people’s first thought aside from their own safety is that of their pet. But what about farm animals? Here’s how local organizations are looking after animals of all sizes.
