Miller-Motte College is adding two new Associate Degree programs at its Chattanooga campus this fall in a some of the fastest-growing demand fields.
The private college, which has campuses in Chattanooga and 10 other cities, is offering online courses this fall in Cyber security and healthcare information technology.
"We've heard from our employer partners and the demand for Cyber security and healthcare information technology professionals continues to grow and we are happy to now offer this opportunity for our students," said Jay Frank, executive director of Miller-Motte College.
Miller-Motte's Cyber security program delivers fundamental IT security principles and real-world applications, tools, and techniques to provide students with the skills needed for entry-level careers in IT security, Cyber security, or information assurance.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and mathematical occupations account for six of the 30 fastest growing occupations. Increasing use of mobile and connected devices will drive demand for application software developers, which is projected to experience employment growth of 25.6%, according to the BLS.
The healthcare information technology program at Miller-Motte College prepares graduates to perform a variety of technology-oriented health information functions including organizing, analyzing, and technically evaluating health information and data; compiling administrative and health statistics; and coding diseases, operations, and other procedures. Graduates earn an Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degree and can go on to work in acute care hospitals, ambulatory, long-term, and mental health facilities, state and federal agencies.
Miller-Motte continues to grow in other areas as well and recently opened a new satellite space for existing programs such as the CDL Training: Class A Tractor Trailer program.
