Greetings, outdoorspeople!
- Weekend forecast: Saturday; high 56, partly cloudy/ Sunday; high 52, mostly sunny
- Recommended adventure: Check out the awe-inspiring views from Newfound Gap. At 5,046 feet, it may be the lowest drivable pass through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but it’s still high on our list of favorite places to visit.
- Most interesting thing we recently learned: Jim Johnson, the president of Chattanooga’s Bike Tours, once went on an international bike tour to find the origins and legend of the holiday song “Silent Night.” Following the Tauren Bike Path through Europe, he retraced the lives of the musicians who composed the music and lyrics in 1818.
