Human remains found in Walker County suspected to be 30-year-old missing man

Remains believed to be those of a 30-year-old man who was reported missing in early October were found Monday morning in Walker County, Georgia.

A man and his son found human skeletal remains while they were hunting in a wooded area east of the 4000 block of South Highway 27 in Lafayette, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Wilson said in a news release that the remains are believed to be those of Robert “Robbie” Sisson III of Lafayette.

Sisson was reported missing on Oct. 1 by a friend.

A witness at the time told the sheriff’s office that Sisson left a residence in the 4000 block of South Highway 27 on Sept. 30 at dusk. Sisson was reportedly walking south toward the woods.

It also was reported that Sisson was insulin dependent and had left without his medication.

The remains have been transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab by the Walker County coroner.

The lab will work to make a positive identification and determine the manner and cause of death, Wilson said.

This is a developing story.
