Duck Donuts now open in East Brainerd, eat food made by celebrity chef Charlie Loomis and more restaurant news

- Duck Donuts is hosting a "Hatching Celebration" on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its newly opened Hamilton Corner location in East Brainerd.

In addition to offering buy-one-get-one-free donuts, the event will include a DJ, as well as fun and games for the kids including temporary tattoos and a duck pond prize game. There will also be a drawing for prizes including a set of Apple AirPods Pro.

At Duck Donuts, you can customize your doughnuts by choosing the toppings you want.

- It's hard to beat a hearty pot roast on a cold winter day, and Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen is now offering a beef short rib pot roast. The meat is served over homemade mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and au jus and topped with crispy onion straws.

The National Park LoveFest partners with restaurants, breweries and coffee shops to raise funds for various programs offered at national parks. On Friday, Feb. 28, Wanderlinger Brewing will give a portion of its popular Forever Friday Bluegrass series featuring New Grass Express to the LoveFest.

- The East Lake Montessori school will host an evening of fun and food at Feed Co. Table & Tavern from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, featuring the delicious food of chef Charlie Loomis. You'll remember Loomis recently beat celebrity chef Bobby Flay at his own game on the popular show "Beat Bobby Flay."

The event, Savor, Sip & Bid will feature food, select wines and a silent auction to support the school's legacy scholarship program allowing children in the East Lake neighborhood to attend East Lake Montessori.
