A Surprising Gift
I sweep my house almost every morning. I’m a firm believer that our environment sets the tone for our mood.
The Danes share my view, and have even developed an entire aesthetic centered on the concept, hygge, which we detail here – and which feels especially relevant as we hunker down under our first real taste of winter.
Based on that 2018 article, this year for Christmas, I decided to sneak into my sister’s room to “HGTV” it while she was at work. Potted plants and a few personalized knickknacks welcomed her when she came home. Even though I was not able to complete my design in time, spending most of my time sifting through the remnants of years worth of life, it did not go unnoticed. And, I’m proud to say, that precious floor and dresser space remains clear. It sparked not only a change in her mood, but also her habits.
Sometimes, we just need a place to start.
