When Life Hands You Lemons…

In January, my partner, Jon, bought us tickets to see one of my favorite bands play in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park this August. Last month, Phish postponed that show until next summer, signaling what I selfishly fear will be a trend for live music through the end of this year. It’s ironic, because it’s times like these when I need the joy of music more than ever.

But all across the city and the world, people are still finding connection from 6 feet apart or aided by technology. While making dinner one night, Jon and I had an impromptu dance party in the kitchen as Phish streamed over the speakers. It wasn’t live music, but it made me feel alive, a quarantine-fueled frenzy the likes of which I probably never would have debuted in public.

This month, we bring you some of the many ways we’ve essentially all been making lemonade, whether that means livestreaming a group workout, finding a worthy opponent via esports, or jamming in your front yard for anyone who happens by and needs to shake the feelings of seclusion.
