So sayeth the former Bulldog

Former Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker, the ex-University of Georgia and National Football League running back, says he has a notion to wake up protesters across the country who want to defund police departments.

“I have an idea,” he tweeted last week. “For all these people who don’t want any police, I’d love to meet with American Airlines, Delta, and Southwest and make a deal to fly them to countries that don’t have police. I want them to be happy!”

Protesters, activist organizations and even some politicians have suggested cities defund police departments after the death of suspect George Floyd at the hand of a white policeman in Minneapolis in late May. The Minneapolis City Council unanimously voted earlier this month to “dismantle” the city’s police department and focus the money on a community-based public-safety system. The city’s Democratic mayor, Jacob Frey, said the next day the department would not be abolished.

Walker, a staunch black conservative, has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and been critical of Democratic policies and politicians.
