St. Patrick's Day is Tuesday, March 17, but events for the wearing o' the green start Friday leading up to the big celebration.

Did you know that approximately 13 million pints of Guinness are served worldwide on St. Patrick's Day? Local pubs and restaurants are certainly doing their part to support this number by offering lots of green beer and drink specials.

It's said that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. So if you want to let your inner leprechaun loose, check out one of these 20 party places.

(POSTPONED) WHISKEY TABERNACLE

Slainte! Somewhat like a warm-up party for St. Patrick's Day, Whiskey Tabernacle brings 20 distilleries together to showcase a variety of Irish whiskey and cocktails. Food trucks and live music will be part of the fun. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition.

(POSTPONED) ST. PADDY'S ON THE PARKWAY

UPDATE: The 2020 St. Paddy's Party on the Parkway will be postponed because of coronavirus concerns until the Parkway reopens later this year.

PREVIOUS INFORMATION: The seventh St. Patrick's Day block party offers music inside and outside the Honest Pint along with food and beer vendors, kids zone, interactive games and crafts.

Playing inside The Honest Pint, starting at 6 p.m., will be Stringer's Ridge, WalkOrRow, The Molly Maguires, Slim Pickins and The 9th Street Stompers.

Playing on the outdoor stage in Patten Parkway, starting at 6:30 p.m., will be Luke Simmons & The Lovestruck, Lenox Hills, The Communicators and Behold the Brave.

Proceeds will be donated to SoundCorps, the nonprofit that supports local music and musicians.

ST. PADDY'S DAY RAGER

Clyde's shuts down its parking lot to make room for this indoor-outdoor party in the Southside. There will be live music beginning at 1 p.m. with Misfit Toyz followed by Sleazy Sleazy and Oweda leading up to last call at 10 p.m. with Josiah and the Greater Good.

Drink specials will include $3 green Bud Lights, $6 Shamrock Juice and $2 Jell-O shots.

'The party continues Sunday, March 15, starting at 10 a.m. with a St. Paddy's Sunday Funday Brunch at Clyde's. Keep the party going - or cure your hangover - with specials like $3 green mimosas, $3 Bloody Marys and $6 Irish breakfast shots.

Paint Station Street green on Saturday at its first Irishfest.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with live music from the Chattanooga Pipe Band, followed by the Joey Winslett Band.

Miller Lite Green Beer, Killian's Irish Red along with Irish food will be offered on Station Street. Street vendors will sell Irish crafts and relics.

Regan's Place will hold its retro weekend dance party and Westbound Bar will host its country dance party, both starting at 9 p.m.

Guests who purchase the Ultimate Irish Pass get access to the street party, Regan's Place, Westbound Bar as well as Jameson Whiskey flight/cocktail samples. From 6 to 9 p.m., Ultimate Irish Passholders will receive a punch card to sample up to 10 special whiskeys or cocktails from the Jameson family. They will also receive a fun swag bag from Jameson.

There may not be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but there is a big gold building. This family-friendly block party includes kids activities, food trucks, games, cocktails and beer, a laser show and live music.

During this street party, the Dorato Bourbon Bar will have live music on its patio from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The Dorato in the Westin is offering St. Patrick's Day specials on Jameson Irish Whiskey ($9 and $10 cocktails) and Guinness ($5 for 16-ounce can) on Saturday and Tuesday nights. Pair your drink with corned beef hash ($8) or fish and chips ($12).

Ride your hog to East Brainerd in search of the pot of gold - and the biker who finds it will win a prize at this Harley dealership. And luck of the Irish - there's more than one pot of gold hidden on the property.

This St. Patty's party includes a green beard contest, music by Stacy Wilson and the Band Raven, Giant Jenga, cornhole, food for purchase from Greg's Sandwich Works and drinks from Bud's Sports Bar.

SHENANIGANS AT GATE 11

There's a night full of Irish fun planned at Gate 11 - roller girls, craft cocktails, bawdy kilt comedy, whiskey and Celtic music.

Acoustic Celtic tunes from the Red Rogues start the party at 4 p.m. The distillery will host the Chattanooga Roller Derby (formerly Chattanooga Roller Girls) rebranding party at 5 o'clock, then ConNooga presents "What's Up Your Kilt?" from 6 to 8 p.m. before the Red Rogues return to the stage to play until closing.

Indulge in Mulligan Stew and shepherd's pie, drink a mint milkshake. Take a photo with Rocky the Elf. Suffolk Sheep Encounter with Bagby's Critter Corral will be in the gardens between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Shamrock City benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association with the sale of green ($1) and gold ($5) shamrocks.

Bryony Stroud-Watson is bringing two of the foremost harpists of Ireland and Scotland to the Southside for a performance.

Grainne Hambly from County Mayo and William Jackson from Glasgow will present "Two Sides of Celtic" in a performance on two harps as well as concertina, tinwhistle and bouzouki.
