Three female officers are now leading the Erlanger Health System Board of Trustees for the first time in the public hospital's history following officer elections at a board meeting on Thursday.
Chair Linda Moss Mines was chosen to remain in her role for a second year, as was vice chair Sheila Boyington. Trustee Vicky Gregg was elected to replace former board secretary Gerald Webb - who will remain on the board as a trustee but felt it would be a challenge to continue balancing the secretary role with his job as a Hamilton County General Sessions Court judge.

Boyington said that the past year has been "very difficult" for the hospital, and that having Mines as chair "has been very valuable."
"I just appreciate all that you do, not only for Erlanger but for the whole community, and just look forward to this next year hopefully being a little better than the past," Boyington said, speaking to Mines.

Boyington, president of the educational technology company Thinking Media, joined the board in September 2017, and Gregg joined the board in November 2019. Gregg was the chief executive officer of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee from January 2003 to December 2012 and a former Erlanger nurse.

The county mayor appoints six trustees with approval from the Hamilton County Commission, and the local legislative delegation appoints four trustees by a majority vote. The medical chief of staff also serves as a trustee.
One trustee position is currently vacant, since former trustee Steve Angle, chancellor of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, resigned from the board in light of COVID-19. Angle said at the time that his responsibility leading the university through a pandemic did not afford him enough time to devote to the hospital board.
